La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged Batch #32

The following allocation applies to Batch 32:

Barrel types In batch
Gaillac White Wine 75%
New Oak Medium Toast 10%
New Oak High Toast 10%
New Acacia Medium Toast 5%

Batch 32 displays a deep mahogany colour, darker than the normal Quadrupel. The finely pearled froth is a light brown, almost beige-like with small bubbles.

The main component of this batch is white wine from the French Gaillac region near Toulouse. Gailliac is known for its still and light sparkling white wines. The grape variety used most often in this very old white wine region are Mauzac, Len de l’el and Muscadelle. These wines have subtle aromas of dried tropical fruit, apple, honey and dates. These aromas and flavours can also be detected in this unique beer. Batch 32 was aged in these casks for more than two years.

The flavour can be described as explosive, whereby the tannins of the oak and of vanilla manifest front and centre. The finish is slightly acidic due to the barrels that contained the white wine.

The alcohol is well-balanced with the sweetness and the low bitterness of this Quadrupel. Just like the aroma, the flavour is very complex. Discover for yourself how this batch also results in a genuine degustation beer.

Gregorius

Tiefgehend – Nachdenklich.

Trappistes Rochefort 10

Dominant impressions of latte coffee with powerful chocolate aromas in the nose. The alcohol esters are enveloped with hints of autumn wood, citrus zest (orange, lemon) and freshly baked biscuits. The initial taste is sweetly sinful. Beer and chocolate trapped into one single glass, a liquid milky draught with a backbone of bitter malt. The alcohol warms the throat and, in the finish, you will pick up traces of cloves, citrus, orange and mocha.
The heaviest of the Rochefort beers, the 10 is a quadrupel style beer and can be recognized by its blue label.

La Trappe Quadrupel

A characteristically Trappist ale with a warm amber colour and a cream-coloured head. The aroma is associated with clover and nuts, balanced by the sweet aromas of vanilla, raisins and banana. La Trappe Quadrupel is the heaviest of all the La Trappe Trappist ales and it is also the source for the name of this style. A full, heart-warming and intense taste. Malty with sweet tones of dates and caramel. The aftertaste is smooth and slightly bitter.

Straffe Hendrik Brugs Quadrupel Bier 11°

Straffe Hendrik Quadrupel, launched in 2010, is an intense beer, dark in colour and full in taste.

The aroma is elegant, spicy and slightly roasted.

The sophisticated blend of special kinds of malt give the beer a complex character, combining a delicate dryness with hints of coriander, dark fruits, anise and roasted chestnuts. The palate finishes in a syrupy taste.

The refermentation in the bottle creates a living beer that will evolve over the years.

Straffe Hendrik Quadrupel finds an excellent partner in chocolate when it comes to foodpairing.

Cuvée du Château

Cuvée du Château is a perfect beer for food pairing. The taste is similar to an aged Kasteel Donker that has been maturing for ten years with hints of port. Delicate hop bitters in the finish follow the initial hints of roasted and caramelised malt. Cuvée du Château is very tasty with game or in combination with a cheese platter!
